Name: James T. Kirk Door: Dominant: Door Pass Canon: Star Trek (AOS) Canon Point: End of 2009 movie Age: 25 Appearance: a picture History: A link! Personality: Reckless - The 2009 movie is a story about space and adventure and the beginning of the Enterprise, but it is also a story about Kirk being beat up. A lot. He pursues his goals with a disregard for his own well-being. It's not necessarily that he doesn't think through the consequences, it's that he comes to a different conclusion about them than most people would, as far as what risks are acceptable. It's likely he knew he was going to be beat up when he picked a fight in a bar surrounded by Starfleet cadets, but he didn't care about that, thought it was worth it to make his point. Rebellious - Pike accuses Kirk of thinking that rules are for other people, and Kirk outright agrees with him. He thinks he knows better than the command structure. This is seen most clearly in his reaction to the Kobayashi Maru training scenario, where he finds a way to defeat the "unwinnable" situation, because it frustrates him to be defeated and because he doesn't agree with the philosophy behind the training exercise. When he faces off with Spock, in both the academic trial and in later situations, it's clear that rules have no innate value to him, that they need to lead to results that he agrees with in order for him to go along with them. Shallow - Kirk is very flirtatious, and while he has a certain level of charm himself he's not always able to pull it off in a charming manner. Some of that is because some of the women he's flirting with want to believe there's something more there than a casual interest, and that's all he has. His shallowness is seen when he's first flirting with Uhura, and also with Gaila when she tells him she loves him and his response is "that is so weird". Genius - Kirk is very intelligent, described as genius level and he likes to use his intelligence to solve complicated problems. He also likes to show it off a little, knowing that his general attitude (and background) frequently cause people to underestimate him. He enjoys showing them that they're wrong, even if he struggles to find an application for his intelligence prior to joining Starfleet. Brave - In some ways this is the other side of the coin of his recklessness, but it is also more than that. Jim does not shy away from danger, instead directly confronting it. While he does not believe in unwinnable scenarios, he also does not think he's invincible. Instead he simply stays calm in the face of that danger, and confronts it without flinching from it. Powers and Abilities: No supernatural powers or abilities. Intelligence is covered in personality section, and he has some combat skills. Inventory: A phaser and a bottle of whiskey Samples: One & Two |
